New Horizons for COCO; Now Named Abilities Without Boundaries.

Cheshire Occupational & Career Opportunities (COCO) has officially changed its name Abilities Without Boundaries.

Since 1978, COCO has provided client services to Cheshire and surrounding towns for people with developmental disabilities. With more than 65 clients participating in the day program, the non-profit company felt the need to re-brand the organization in order to gain more support and recognition for their efforts.

“We are all very excited about the new range of possibilities that this name change will open to us,” said Charlie Conway, Executive Director of the newly named Abilities Without Boundaries, wrote in a statement.

Abilities Without Boundaries welcomes supporters of the organization to join in the first official celebration under the new name.  On Wednesday, July 27, at 615 West Johnson Ave., the organization will host a Cheshire Chamber of Commerce After-Hours event. Refreshments will be provided. 

“The new name has great significance to us and those that we serve. The word ‘abilities’ helps to remind us not of our clients’ limitations, but instead of the limitless possibilities that lie before them and of the great range of unique and individual talents they possess. The phrase ‘without boundaries’ signifies that the only true boundaries are those imagined,” Conway wrote.

The entire organization is dedicated to making a difference in the individuals it serves and feels that this re-branding process has the ability to assist.  “Abilities Without Boundaries absolutely captures the essence of our organization’s everlasting initiative and commitment to take our spirited efforts to the next level,” Michael Lenkowski, President of the Board of Directors, said in the statement.

“It is with an astounding level of pride that I encourage our valued clients and their families, our dedicated and hard-working associates, our devoted Board of Directors, our cherished business partners, and our supportive community to embrace a positive cultural change that upholds our [organization’s] mission,” said Lenkowski. 

Abilities Without Boundaries is excited for the journey that lies ahead.  “We are firmly committed to the individuals entrusted in our care and will do all that we can to break down stereotypes and false statements to provide the very highest quality programming and opportunities for those with developmental disabilities,” said Conway.
