New Police Chief Sworn In To Cheshire Police Department

The Cheshire Police Department officially swore in the new police chief, and honored a longtime officer who retired after 25 years.

CHESHIRE, CT — The Cheshire Police Department officially swore in Chief Frederick Jortner as the new Chief of Police on Tuesday night.

“Chief Jortner began his career with the Cheshire Police Department in 2003 and has served in a wide range of roles throughout the agency,” the police department wrote in a post on Facebook. “As Chief of Police, Chief Jortner remains deeply committed to the principles of community-oriented policing, operational excellence, and the continued growth and development of the dedicated men and women of the Cheshire Police Department.”

Police also recognized Officer Carmen Calo, who retired after an “exemplary 25-year career with the CPD,” officials wrote. “We thank Officer Calo for his dedicated service to the Cheshire community.”
