Report: Cheshire Home Invasion Reaction Causing CT Prison Populations To Swell
Some experts believe that new laws passed in response to the 2007 Cheshire home invasion has caused Connecticut prison populations to swell.

Connecticut prison populations have swelled by more than 400 people since April, and some experts are blaming laws passed after the 2007 Cheshire home invasion.
Connecticut News Junkie reports that Connecticut's prison population has increased by about 400 prisoners since April, to around 17,000 total, when generally the prison population decreases during the summer. The reason, according to some experts, is that fewer prisoners are being granted parole after stricter rules were passed following the 2007 Cheshire home invasion.
The invasion, which ended with three females being murdered, was committed by two men who had been on parole for less serious crimes. Stricter parole laws were passed in Connecticut following the incident, and in turn fewer Connecticut prisoners are being granted parole, according to Connecticut News Junkie.
