Road Closures this Week
Massive concrete structures will be installed on Schoolhouse Road while Sandbank Road will receive final paving layer.

The Department of Public Works and Engineering announced the following work this week:
NOTICE OF ROAD CLOSURES:
Schoolhouse Road
The massive concrete structures to be installed in the center of Schoolhouse Road near the culvert are almost ready, and our contractor is scheduled to begin today, June 27th. Road closure can be expected during the entire week of June 27-July 1, and drivers should plan accordingly. Alternating traffic will be established as soon as possible but patience during this challenging phase of road and drainage improvements is greatly appreciated.
Sandbank Road Closure
To accomplish the final paving course of asphalt on Sandbank Rd. (from Highland Ave. to Industrial Ave.), the road will be closed to thru traffic between the hours of 7:00am and 4:30 pm, today, June 27. Emergency vehicles, local businesses, and buses will be allowed access to the necessary properties.
ROAD PAVING – Status as of Friday, June 24
The first round of this year's paving program is nearly completed. This represents over four miles of the Town’s 151 miles of roads.
Paving has been completed onEast Johnson Ave (Route 10 to McCausland), Riverside Dr., Oxford Ct. Applewood Dr, Fairwood Dr, Bridget’s Ln, Crescent Cir, Lewis Rd., Rockview Dr., Roslyn Dr., Harold Rd., Dryden Dr. and Bayberry Rd. Any issues with driveway transitions and miscellaneous cleanups will be addressed beginning the week of June 27.
Marion Rd. (Huckins to Jarvis) and Sandbank Road have had the first course of asphalt installed. The final top course of asphalt on will be completed by today, June 27. These roads still have bumps at the transitions, and there are some raised catch basins and manholes in the roadway. PLEASE DRIVE SLOWLY AND WITH CAUTION WHEN DRIVING THROUGH THESE ROADS.
The next round of milling and paving will begin in mid-July, and exact dates and the roads affected will be announced as the exact dates of construction become finalized.
Sidewalk projects are also planned this summer with the majority of the work occurring in the Town Center area and on Main Street and South Main Street.
