Law Enforcement Volunteers Carry Torch Through Cheshire
The "Flame of Hope" heads to the Summer Games in New Haven after a 530-mile trek through the state.
Law enforcement officers, special olympians and other volunteers carried the a torch called the "Flame of Hope," through Cheshire Friday afternoon on its way to opening ceremonies for the 42nd annual Summer Games in New Haven at 7 p.m.
The Law Enforcement Torch run covered a three-day period that brought the torch through 100 Connecticut towns and cities to raise funds for special olympics.
Runners on "leg 7" of the event began this morning in Newington and carried the torch through New Britain, Berlin, Southington, Cheshire, Hamden and on to New Haven.
