Cheshire Police stopped a tractor trailer and its convoy of escort vehicles on Main Street at about 2 p.m. on Wednesday .  The wide-load truck carried a large shrink-wrapped boat that cleared the overhead wires, but not with a lot of room to spare. It appeared police were reviewing the owner's  transportation documents. The truck blocked a lane of traffic near the Cheshire Public Library causing police to direct traffic around the boat for about an hour. The name of the transport company wasn't available Wednesday night.
