Town's Energy Saving Efforts Topic of CPTV Show

A  segment of  "Empowering Connecticut"  features Cheshire and its efforts in energy conservation. The Neighbor to Neighbor Energy Challenge is featured within this report as one of the town’s newest initiatives. The show will air on June 23 at 8:30 p.m.

The Town of Cheshire is recognized for its energy efficiency and renewable energy projects at the municipal level and also at the residential level.  Highlighted in the series is energy challenge which provides homeowners with the opportunity to work with experts to find and seal air leaks, leading to lower heating and cooling costs. Leading Cheshire’s energy movement is the Cheshire Energy Commission. The commission is an advisory commission to the Town Council on energy-related matters. The commission provides education and information on energy and new energy technologies, seeks to eliminate the waste of energy and promotes energy efficiency, thereby saving taxpayers' money.

The television show is an initiative produced in partnership with the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund (CEEF).  The series shows Connecticut residents how small changes can make a difference when it comes to the environment – and their energy bill.  

Hosted and produced by environmental journalist, Christina DeFranco with Channel 8’s Bob Wilson serving as a featured contributor, Empowering Connecticut showcases Connecticut residents, businesses, and communities that are finding creative and comparatively inexpensive ways to conserve energy.
