West Main Street Traffic Delays Ahead
Construction at two locations on the busy state highway will close a lane of traffic periodically during the project.
It won't be pothole patching that slows you down in the next few weeks, but continued construction by Yankee Gas. The company is scheduled to resume the installation of a new pipeline from Wallingford to Waterbury.
Here is the route and information provided by Yankee Gas:
- West Main Street (Route 68) near Railroad Avenue at the Farmington Canal Crossing. Construction of the pipeline crossing the Farmington Canal will occur over a six week period beginning mid-March and lasting until approximately May 1. Most of this work will be off-road, however, the initial first two weeks of construction will entail on-road work and may affect traffic. During this period two-way traffic will be maintained whenever possible, however, vehicles may be limited to one-way alternating traffic at times. Emergency vehicles and school buses will be given priority.
- West Main Street (Route 68) between Mountain Road and Williams Road. Milling and final paving will occur in April and May 2011. Two-way traffic will be maintained whenever possible, however, vehicles may be limited to one-way alternating traffic at times. Emergency vehicles and school buses will be given priority.
