Clinton Student Organizing Backpack/School Supplies Drive For Sandy Hook
Drop off new backpacks and any type of school supplies today at Clinton Paint and Decorating for the students of Newtown.

Editor's note: Here's another (local) way to help the young children and survivors of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. Because the school is a crime scene, it is closed temporarily, maybe forever. The surviving students will be schooled in a building (an empty school) in neighboring Monroe.
Elissa Pinette of Clinton and a senior at Sacred Heart University is organizing a backpack and school supplies drive.
"I am majoring in Social Work and the recent story of Sandy Hook has impacted me in ways that are unimaginable," said Pinette. "I am an aunt to three wonderful elementary school aged children and I just can't even imagine."

Pinette says she has been in contact with someone who is doing direct fundraising with Sandy Hook.
"I am conducting, with their permission, a Backpack/School Supply drive," said Pinette.

"The people I have been in contact with have notified me that backpacks and school supplies are those items needed at this time for these children who will be attending a different school at the end of this week and have no supplies due to the severity of the crime scene," said Pinette.
