Chuck's Steak House Reopens Under New Management In Danbury
Chuck's Steak House is now Chuck's Steak House by Barbarie. Fine, but what about the salad bar…?
DANBURY, CT — An iconic Danbury eatery has reopened under new management.
Chuck's Steakhouse at 20 Segar Street is now Chuck’s Steak House by Barbarie. The owners of Barbarie's Grill closed the $2.38 million deal with their former rival last fall. Chuck's Steak House has been in operation, just off Interstate 84, since 1973.
In October, the new owners promised to "breathe new life into this esteemed establishment," and five months later they have made good, based on the social media reaction. Facebook foodies who stumbled across the restaurant's "soft" reopening two weeks ago praised the food and service, and made a point of noting that its well-regarded salad bar returned intact.

The Barbarie family has operated restaurants for close to 60 years in Danbury, beginning with Jim Barbarie’s Restaurant on Padanaram Road. Barbarie's Black Angus Grille opened on Eagle Road in 2012, and Barbarie's Grill opened in the parking lot of the Danbury Fair Mall in 2020. With the opening of the re-branded Chuck's, the owners have closed the Barbarie's Grill at the Danbury Fair Mall.
The new establishment is honoring gift certificates from both the original Chuck’s and Barbarie's Grill, according to the owner's post on Facebook.
