Community Fair to Give Out 200 Back-to-School Backpacks

Danbury organization will be handing out back-to-school supplies next weekend.

Jericho Partnership’s Spring Street Neighborhood Center’s annual Back-to-School Backpack Bash and Community Resource Fair will distribute 200 backpacks to children whose families face financial hardship.

More than a dozen community organizations will participate in the Resource Fair, including the Literacy Caravan, the Multicultural Center of Western Connecticut, Danbury Rotary Club, the Family Learning Center, the Family Resource Center and Danbury Children First.

The fair — set to run from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. — will be held in the Spring Street Neighborhood Center gym at 44 Spring St., Danbury.

Community organizations will provide everything from free books to Amber Alert IDs and program information to several hundred Spring Street neighborhood residents and children.

Jericho Partnership is an umbrella organization for 24 urban and suburban churches in the Danbury area and 10 hands-on transformative ministries for the city’s youth, homeless and other at-risk populations.
