Danbury Firefighters Reunite Mother and Children

Firefighters rescue family of ducklings stuck in a storm drain Monday.

Danbury’s first responders jump to the call whenever an emergency arises that needs their immediate help. Such was the case Monday morning when Danbury Fire Department got reports of a panicked mother on Main Street.

Firefighters responded — led by incident commander Lt. Heather Anderson — to find the mother pacing back and forth with nervous anxiety.

Nine of her ducklings had fallen into the storm drain.

Crews pulled up the storm drain cover, got into the sewer line beneath Main Street and brought all nine chicks to safety. The mother and her brace were later released in nearby Rogers Park.
