Danbury Liquor Store Owner in Hot Water After Selling Alcohol to 6 Teens

Police said a Danbury liquor store owner sold alcohol to 6 teens and warned then to 'watch out' because police were in the area. BREAKING

DANBURY, CT — A Danbury liquor store owner was issued a citation on Sept. 27 by the Special Investigations Division, Community Conditions Unit of the Danbury Police Department, and referred to the CT State Liquor Commission after she was caught selling alcohol to six minors, according to Detective Lt. Mark Williams.

On Sept. 23, 2016, Danbury Police conducted surveillance of Kenny’s Wine & Spirits on Federal Road after receiving several tips from area residents that claimed it was the “go-to” package store for underage teens wishing to purchase alcohol.

Over the course of a two and a half hour-long investigation, officers said they observed several underage teenagers enter the store and exit with purchased alcohol. The teens were later stopped by police who issued infractions, notified their parents and seized their alcohol. Two of the teens had fake IDs but only one was carded, police said.

Police said they later entered the store and spoke with the store owner, Heidi Salcedo, 35, of Bethel, who will be referred to the state liquor commission for administrative action and further police action. According to a public notice, Salcedo applied for the liquor permit on June 3, 2016 with the Department of Consumer Protection.

"An alarming aspect to the police investigation was that several of the teenagers were warned by the employee that the police were in the area when they were sold the alcohol. It appeared as though the employee was tipped off shortly after the first car load of teenagers was stopped by the police.
