Danbury Mayor To Undergo Brain Surgery: Report

BREAKING: The eight-term mayor is due to undergo a delicate brain surgery in Pittsburgh Tuesday.

DANBURY, CT — In an effort to remove a benign tumor from his brain, Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton headed to Pittsburgh Sunday for a delicate brain surgery, reports the News Times. Boughton's doctors believe the tumor is benign, and the mayor says he expects to make a full recovery.

Boughton has served eight terms as the city's mayor and is among the top Republican candidates for governor in 2018.

He said he does not expect the surgery to affect his campaign for re-election as the mayor of the Hat City, or his exploration into a run at statewide office.
