Danbury Mom Shot: Police Search for Answers in Young Mother's Death: Report

A young mother was shot in her apartment on the Danbury-Bethel line Saturday. Police are actively investigating the case.

DANBURY, CT — Danbury police said the case of a Danbury mom of four who was shot and killed in her apartment on Saturday is an active investigation which will require forensic analysis and more interviews with the victim's family, friends and acquaintances, according to Danbury Police Det. Lt. Christian Carroccio.

Police said Sherrie Blount, 31, was found dead in a South Street apartment at 1:30 p.m. Saturday from a single gunshot wound while her four young children were in the apartment. A GoFundMe page states that she her four small children range in age from 10 months to 8 years old. The family wrote on the page:

"This is a devastating time for the entire family. We lost a beautiful soul that was loved by so many. Words cannot describe the pain that this family is feeling. During this time the family is asking for donations to help support these children and for funeral expenses. Anything that can be contributed is greatly appreciated. God bless these beautiful children. Please share."
