Danbury Named Among Nation's Most Livable Cities

USA Today ranked the 50 most livable cities in America, and the Hat City made the list.

DANBURY, CT — Driven by the state's lowest crime rate among cities and low unemployment, Danbury was recently named among the 50 most livable cities in the country. A USA Today report ranked the 50 most livable cities in the U.S. on a variety of factors.

Danbury was the only Connecticut city listed in the rankings, published by USA Today Friday.

Despite the high cost of living, based on a range of socioeconomic measures, Danbury is the most livable city in Connecticut and one of the most livable in the United States. Danbury boasts a higher concentration of restaurants, sports teams, and theatre companies than is typical nationwide. For physically active residents, the city also has a relatively high concentration of recreation centers, golf courses, and nature parks.

The cities were ranked based on an index of over three dozen socioeconomic measures to identify the best cities. Those factors include crime rate, economic health and affordability.
