Although April’s awareness campaign has ended, the Danbury Police Department wants to remind the public that enforcement efforts are ongoing. Officers remain vigilant year-round and will continue to stop and cite drivers engaging in distracted behavior.

“I want to thank Chief Ridenhour and our Police Department for their continued efforts to keep Danbury’s roads safe,” said Mayor Roberto L. Alves in a statement. “The results from April show just how committed our officers are to protecting lives. Distracted driving is dangerous and is not tolerated in the City of Danbury. Even a single incident is one too many.”

In addition to distracted driving enforcement, the department is actively participating in several statewide initiatives throughout the year. This includes Click it or Ticket in May and speed enforcement in June. The department will also step up DUI enforcement around major holidays, including Memorial Day and the Fourth of July.
