Danbury Police Identity Suspect In Lake Avenue Shooting

Danbury police have identified a suspect in the Lake Avenue shooting last week.

DANBURY, CT — Danbury police have identified a suspect in the Lake Avenue shooting last week.

Tyrone Tallman, 47, of Danbury, is currently being held on a $1 million bond, according to police spokesperson Erin Henry. He is facing charges of first- and second-degree assault/illegal discharge of a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree breach of peace, engaging police in pursuit reckless driving, and other traffic violations.

Police were called to the area of 2 Lake Avenue around 6:30 p.m. Friday. Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his neck and provided medical assistance until EMS arrived, police said. The victim was taken by ambulance to the hospital, and has not been identified.

"Responding officers quickly gathered information regarding the suspected shooter, and his vehicle was immediately spotted in the vicinity," police said in a news release. "After a brief pursuit, the vehicle collided with a Danbury Police cruiser and was stopped on Interstate 84 West near the New York border."

Tallman was subsequently apprehended, and his handgun was recovered."

The officer involved in the crash suffered minor injuries during the apprehension of the subject, police said.
