​Danbury Police Cite Two Bars, Find Issues At Others In Compliance Checks

Danbury police and state officials cite bars for liquor violations, including sales to minors and illegal drink promotions.

DANBURY, CT — State and local authorities cited several businesses for liquor law violations during compliance checks at six establishments in Danbury on Sept. 12, police said.

The operation was carried out by the Connecticut Department of Liquor Control, the Danbury Police Special Investigations Division and officers from the Patrol Division after a rise in complaints about the businesses, according to police.

La Costenita on Ives Street, La Canchita on Delay Street and El Bacano on Railroad Place were found in compliance, police said.

Violations were reported at three other locations:

  • Club Diamond, 101 Railroad Place, was cited for advertising unlimited drinks at a set price, which violates state rules on drink promotions.
  • The Roxy, 40 Mill Plain Road, was cited for two counts of minors loitering.
  • Molly Darcy’s, 39A Mill Plain Road, was cited for one count of selling alcohol to a minor and four counts of minors loitering.

Police said the Department of Liquor Control submitted an investigation report and will determine whether further enforcement action will be taken.
