Danbury Titans Fold After Two Seasons
BREAKING: The Danbury Ice Arena will be without a professional hockey team once again.

DANBURY, CT — Another team decided to pack up shop Wednesday, marking the end of another chapter in the city's history with professional hockey. Owner Bruce Bennett announced Wednesday that his Danbury Titans would cease operations effective immediately after two seasons of Federal Hockey League play.
Bennett cited the costs of workers' compensation insurance in the state as the reason for the teams' folding.
"Last season's injury list was long. Because of this, I refuse to allow my staff and players on the ice without proper medical coverage," said Bennett in a statement. "I have been working hard over the last few months to find a solution. Despite working up to the last possible second a solution could not be found."

On the ice, the Titans were highly successful. The team boasted the league's top record during their inaugural season in 2015-2016 and finished third in their second season. Bennett stated he would appear on i95 radio to further discuss details of the closure.
Season ticket holders and sponsors will be contacted promptly for refunds, according to the announcement.

"It is with a heavy heart that this decision had to be made," stated Bennett."When I started the Titans franchise I wanted to set an example for everyone in our league to follow. Over the last two seasons we have earned the respect and admiration of those from around the hockey world. I felt like this could be a long-term venture with a lot of success. Despite the fact we never won a championship, I was extremely proud of my players and their commitment not only on the ice but also off. I know the Titans have had a major impact on our community that will be missed."
