Elderly Man Inappropriately Touched 9-Year-Old Girl, Sent Lewd Texts 5 Years Later

DANBURY, CT — Det. Lt. Christian Carroccio of the Danbury Police Department said that a Danbury man has been arrested for allegedly inappropriately touching a 9-year-old female in a sexual manner in 2010 at a residence in Danbury. According to police, on March 11, 2016 a complaint was received that Victor Handal, 72, of Danbury, had inappropriately touched the girl.

During the investigation, police said that additional information was obtained indicating that Handal had sent inappropriate text messages to the same girl several years later in 2015, when she was 15-years-old. After an investigation of complaints by the Danbury Police Department's Special Victims Unit, an arrest warrant was issued for Victor Handal, police said.

Handal turned himself into the Danbury Police Department on September 16, 2016 after learning there was a warrant out for his arrest. He was arrested and charged with risk of injury to a minor, impairing the morals of a minor and risk of injury to a minor with sexual contact. Handal was released from custody after posting a $30,000 bond, police said. He was issued a court date of Sept. 29, 2016.
