Hundreds Seeking Danbury Jobs

The Danbury Career Fair drew hundreds of people Tuesday to the Ethan Allen Inn.

The state Department of Labor cut to the finish Tuesday by offering a career fair focused on jobs. It didn't have the frills of previous career fairs, such as the career bus or resume writers, just jobs.

The jobs were available at AT&T, Barden, Belimo, Boehringer Ingelheim, Cablevision, Home Depot, Danbury Powersports and dozens of other companies. The Danbury Fire Department is testing for new firefighters this spring, said TJ Wiedl, assistant fire chief.

"I worked for Whole Foods before," said John Kramer, Danbury, who stopped by the fair because he left Whole Foods in Florida to return to school, and it's time to work again. "It's a very friendly, positive working environment. They're interested in health."
