Nominate a Woman Making a Difference in the Community
Greater Danbury Chamber is looking for nominations for its 2014 Heart of Women Award.

The Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce — which includes Danbury, as well as Bethel, Bridgewater, Brookfield, New Fairfield, New Milford, Newtown, Redding, Ridgefield and Sherman — is looking for nominations for their Heart of Women Award.
The annual award honors local women who have made a noticeable, positive impact on the communities they live and work in.
The committee will be looking for nominees that:
• Demonstrate the spirit of creativity, innovation and initiative by responding in a proactive manner to an issue, concern or event that effect the lives of others.
• Make a lasting difference in the lives of individuals of all abilities and backgrounds.
• Routinely go above and beyond the call of duty.
• Actions reflect passion and personal commitment of time, talent or treasure on behalf of others.
• Demonstrate leadership in coordinating volunteer efforts of individuals or groups for fundraising, special events, programs or services that benefit the community.
• Inspire others to get involved, take responsibility, or assume leadership in order to effect positive change.
Nominations must be submitted online by Aug. 19. Past nominees must be resubmitted to be considered again.
The award will be presented at a special reception at the Ethan Allen Hotel in Danbury on Oct. 16.
Past recipients include:
2011 — Jane Martellino, Founder and President of Yes! Grace Rocks.
2012 — LouAnn Bloomer, Founder/CEO and President of TBICO; Marie Hatcher, Founder of Matthew’s Hearts of Hope.
2013 — Wilda Hayes, President and CEO (ret.) of Ann’s Place; Honorarium: Dr. Janet Robinson and Patricia Llodra.
