State Rep. Arconti Supports Fuel Cell Bill

House Bill 7036 allows electric distribution companies to add power from fuel cells to their sources of renewable energy.

From State Rep David Arconti: State Representative David Arconti (D-Danbury) is proud to report that the Legislature has passed a measure to boost the fuel cell industry. House Bill 7036, An Act Promoting The Use Of Fuel Cells For Electric Distribution System Benefits And Reliability, allows electric distribution companies to add power from fuel cells to their sources of renewable energy. Rep. Arconti co-sponsored the legislation.

“I applaud my colleagues in the House and Senate for continuing Connecticut’s effort to achieve energy self-sufficiency while reducing costs to the consumer,” said Rep. Arconti. “Energy produced by companies such as Danbury-based FuelCell Energy will provide more opportunities to advance the company’s products, grow their business and add jobs to the local economy.”

At a public hearing before the Energy & Technology Committee in February, representatives from the state departments of Energy and Environmental Protection, Office of Consumer Council and Economic and Community Development all spoke in favor of the bill. Other support came from the Connecticut Business & Industry Association, Renewable Energy and Efficiency Business Association, and the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology.
