“We made a record-high investment in education during the 2023 legislative session by accelerating the Education Cost Sharing formula and fully funding the Special Education Cost Sharing Grant, but there is still work to be done. I want to continue advocating for what’s best for our children,” said Chaleski. “There’s also more we can do to make Connecticut affordable, and I look forward to continuing that work.”
In her current term, Chaleski fought for long-awaited funding for the Danbury Charter School. She will continue those efforts during the 2024 General Assembly session.

“As a parent, deciding where to send your child to school is one of the most difficult decisions. Every family and child deserves choice and that choice has been embedded in the state’s educational landscape for decades with magnets, technical schools, vo-ags, and charters. Danbury is one of the fastest growing districts in Connecticut, and the only large city in the state without a charter school. Many students can thrive in a large school environment, but one size does not fit all,” said Chaleski.
Chaleski received a 100% voting record for the 2023 General Assembly session and was recognized by Connecticut’s largest business organization for her 100% pro-business voting record.
“I am proud of the progress achieved in just a short amount of time. My colleagues and I worked across party lines to put forth the first bipartisan budget since 2017, which included a historic state Income Tax cut and an easing of the cliff on income tax exemptions for retirement income, all while honoring and extending the state’s fiscal guardrails,” said Chaleski.
Prior to being elected as State Representative, Chaleski served on the Danbury Board of Education, including as Board Chair, Vice-Chair and Secretary.
Rep. Chaleski’s 138th District includes a portion of Danbury. She serves as a member of the Education, Transportation, and Appropriations committees. She was first elected in 2022 and will seek her second term as State Representative in the 138th District. For more information visit https://www.rachelfor138.com/.
