DANBURY, CT — Add Brazilian BBQ to the growing list of diverse tastes being served up at the Danbury Fair Mall food court.

With four locations in Massachusetts and one in Rhode Island, according to its website, the Danbury site is the growing chain's first franchise in Connecticut.

Terra Nossa co-founders Karla and João Jardim opened their first restaurant in Braintree, MA, in 2021, with a mission of "bringing Brazilian Barbecue to the food courts of American malls."
On Instagram, Karla Jardim said that their targeting of Danbury was not an accident:

"The Brazilian community is really rich in Danbury. That was one of the reasons we decided to bring our Brazilian BBQ-inspired concept to the Danbury Fair Mall."
As of 2016, there were an estimated 10,000 Brazilians living in the city, or just under 5 percent of the population, so touting "authentic" food is no casual boast. The Jardims meet the challenge with a menu that includes sides of fried yucca and Brazilian bananas, ahead of traditional Brazilian desserts pudim and brigadeiros.
"We feel truly blessed to be here in Danbury, a city with such a vibrant Brazilian community that has welcomed us with open arms," the restaurateurs posted.
