Two Danbury Men Stole Car, Threatened Driver: Police

The victim told police the two suspects "threatened to kill her" and "beat her up," police say.

DANBURY, CT — Two city men were arrested after police say they threatened a woman and stole her vehicle after an argument Friday morning, according to Danbury Police. James Harrington, 23, and Jesse Coachman, 21, allegedly struck a woman's car on West Street and Beaver Street, and the victim told police the two men threatened her.

Police say they responded to an address on Beaver Street at 4:45 a.m., to investigate a reported hit and run.

Harrington told police he and Coachman were on their way back from Waterbury when they were struck from behind by a black Audi.

The woman told police an argument ensued between her and the suspects at the McDonald's, ending in both driving off in the same direction.

She tried to lose the two on Beaver Street, but they continued to follow her, according to police. Harrington and Coachman later crashed into her Audi as she tried to cut across the grass median at the intersection of West and Beaver Streets.

Harrington, Coachman and two others allegedly got out of the car and tried to open the woman's car door. The victim told police she was threatened and managed to escape on foot until police arrived.

Harrington was charged robbery, larceny, conspiracy and driving without insurance. Coachman was charged with larceny, robbery and conspiracy.

Harrington posted a $10,000 bond and Coachman is being held on a $10,000 bond. Harrington is due in Danbury Superior Court Oct. 26.
