EAST HAMPTON, CT — A man is accused of trying to break into one home, successfully breaking into another home, and then trying to get away by climbing into the bed of a pickup truck after being confronted by the homeowner early Friday morning in East Hampton, according to police.
Police responded to the area of Colchester Avenue and Tall Woods Drive around 5 a.m. on Dec. 13 on the report of a man trying to break into a home.
“After failing to gain entry into that residence, the suspect gained entry to a second residence by breaking a first-floor window and climbing inside,” police wrote in a news release. “Upon entering the home, the suspect was confronted by the homeowner. The suspect fled the scene on foot and attempted to enter a passerby's vehicle. When the operator of that vehicle denied the suspect access, he climbed into the bed of the pick-up truck as it left the area.”
