Colchester Man Accused Of OUI In ATV Crash In Salmon River State Forest

The accident happened in May in East Hampton, according to state officials.

EAST HAMPTON, CT — A Colchester resident is accused of being under the influence when he crashed an ATV in the Salmon River State Forest in May.

Damon Jansky, 31, of Colchester, was arrested on a warrant Friday and charged with operating an ATV under the influence, first-degree reckless endangerment, operating an unregistered ATV, and illegal use of an ATV in a state forest.

The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s Environmental Conservation Police lodged the charges against Jansky following an investigation.

The accident happened May 17. According to police, Jansky was operating an ATV in the state forest when the vehicle rolled over an embankment. Jansky and a female passenger were ejected. They were both injured and had to be transported to area hospitals for treatment, according to DEEP.

Jansky was released on a $40,000 bond, and he is due to appear in Superior Court in Middletown on July 11.
