Cromwell/Portland Falls in Football Semifinals

ANSONIA, CT — For the seventh straight year, Ansonia High School will be competing for a state football championship after defeating Cromwell/Portland 49-28 in a Class S semifinal matchup Monday night.

Dianta Highsmith grabbed two touchdown passes from Liam Coleman, including a 98-yard scoring play in the fourth quarter, for Cromwell/Portland.

Second-seeded Ansonia (12-0) will face No. 4 Rocky Hill (11-1) Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Willow Brook Park in New Britain. Ansonia holds the state record with 19 championships, while Rocky Hill will be making its first-ever appearance in a title game.
