Daily Five: Here's Five Things You Can Do This Weekend

There's a high school play, a big pet adoption event and an Easter egg hunt.

 

  1. John Gagnon’s Pet Resort in Colchester will host a pet adoption day on Sunday, March 24, in conjuntion with the group Double Dog Rescue, from 11-2 p.m. The doggie day camp will have more than 50 dogs available for adoption that day. You an see photos and view descriptions of some of the animals on the Double Dog Rescue’s website.
  2. The Chatham Historical Society will sponsor its 18th annual Antique Appraisal Day on Saturday, March 23, from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the Community Room at the East Hampton Library, 105 Main St., East Hampton. Four expert appraisers will give verbal appraisals on furniture, glassware, lamps, china, teddy bears, dolls, quilts, artwork and other treasures brought in, for a suggested donation of $5 per item.
  3. The Portland Public Library, in conjunction with the Connecticut Historical Society, will host the program “From Hula Hoops to High Fashion: G. Fox in the 1950s,” on Saturday, March 23, from 11 a.m. to noon.
  4. Portland High School’s theater group will present the play “Anything Goes,” starting Friday, March 22 and running through Saturday, March 23. Friday’s showing will be at 7 p.m. and Saturday’s will be at 1 and 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $6 for kids 10 and under.
  5. Portland’s Parks and Recreation Department will host an East Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, at Valley View School. The event is for childre ages 1-10 and organizers ask that participants each bring a non-perishable food item for the local food bank.
