East Hampton Coach Suspended, Accused Of Pushing Player: Reports
A high school basketball coach has been suspended after a video appears to show him pushing a player during a game, reports state.
EAST HAMPTON, CT — A basketball coach is accused of pushing a player during a game, and has been suspended, according to FOX 61. East Hampton High School Athletic Director and Girls Basketball Coach Shaun Russell was suspended after a video surfaced which appears to show him shoving a player into position on the court during a Dec. 20 game against Valley Regional High, media reports state.
The incident occurred in the fourth quarter, when East Hampton had a 24-point lead, FOX 61 reported.
East Hampton Schools Superintendent Paula Smith said Russell is on leave pending an internal investigation. He has been with the athletics program for more than 20 years.

“Regardless of the excitement of an athletic contest, we expect our coaches to temper their behavior to represent the high ideals of East Hampton Public Schools,” Smith told WFSB 3-TV.
The video was posted to YouTube by Valley Regional High's Student TV.
