East Hampton FD Honors Its Top Firefighters

The East Hampton Volunteer Fire Department recently gave out several awards at its annual member appreciation dinner.

EAST HAMPTON, CT — The town's volunteer fire department recently honored some of its longtime members at the department's annual appreciation dinner.

The East Hampton Volunteer Fire Department honored several members for their service and accomplishments.

Honored were:

• Chris Luindquist, who was the firefighter of the year.

• Marty Swan, top responder.

• A.J. Kiernan, junior firefighter of the year.

• Dan Burdick, a national VFW award for his 47 years of "service and commitment to our community."

• Shane Owen, for 30 years of service.

• Shawn Kinsey, for 10 years of service.

"We want to congratulate our team members who received awards at our annual appreciation dinner," wrote EHVFD Chief Robert Rainville this week.

Rainville said the department also doled out unit citations for local firefighters who rushed over to Berlin last fall to battle the nasty brush fire on Lamentation Mountain.

"Most of these members called out of work to help protect Berlin," Rainville said.
