East Hampton Schools To Add Security Officers: Report

The Board of Education voted unanimously to support a measure to add armed security officers at schools.

EAST HAMPTON, CT — The East Hampton Board of Education unanimously supported a measure to add armed guards to schools at its Monday night meeting, according to WTNH News-9. Armed security will be added at Memorial Elementary, Central Elementary, and East Hampton Middle School.

East Hampton High School has had an armed security officer since 2019.

The plan will cost an estimated $150,000, and the board is requesting the town for funding, WTNH News-8 reported.

Several other school districts across the state have voted to hire security in an effort to prevent mass shootings, including New Milford, Montville, and Lyme-Old Lyme.
