UPDATE: (Correction) East Hampton Superintendent's Contract Rescinded

Diane Dugas will no longer serve as superintendent of schools in East Hampton.

The Board of Education and Diane Dugas, who has been East Hampton’s superintendent for the past two years, mutually agreed to rescind her contract, the Middletown Press reported. The decision was made at Monday night’s school board meeting behind closed doors.

The Middletown Press reported that the school board voted to empower Chairman Kenneth W. Barber to enter into discussions with a possible candidate for interim superintendent.

The school board will likely discuss whether it should hire a consultant to help them search for a new schools superintendent, and that meeting could occur at a June 29 special meeting.

Editor’s Note: We originally and mistakenly wrote that Barber was a possible candidate for interim superintendent and that is not the case. Also the board is not considering hiring a consultant to select an interim superintendent.
