Letter to the Editor: Melissa Ziobron
The recently elected representative to the 34th House District says she wants to bring the focus back to local towns.

Â
Maintaining the beauty and character of our district is of utmost importance to me and, I believe, most of our friends and neighbors that live in this region. Early on in my first term I have put a focus on the things that we have come to love, as I pledged to do in my campaign.
Most of you have already heard of my push to create a plan to restore Sunrise State Park, but I have other environmental bill proposals as well.
One proposal is to put into statute language that will prevent the Salmon River well from being closed down without proper reason or notice. The artesian well is an important resource for residents during disaster, such as the extended power outages following Hurricane Irene, and has long served our public. In the past it has been shut down without notice to residents in the area, I hope to prevent that from happening again.
Another bill is to officially recognize Air Line State Park Trail for its important historical significance. Again, this trail is an important landmark and center for recreational activities in our community; we all cherish this linear trail which connects many eastern Connecticut communities and I hope to cement it in our official state’s history.
I am remaining active in the district. Recently, I attended the East Hampton School Building Committee meeting to discuss the renovation of East Hampton High School, volunteered at Nathan Hale-Ray’s Project Safe Graduation pancake breakfast and attended a fundraiser to benefit the Newtown Rotary Sandy Hook fund presented by East Haddam and Colchester Rotary Clubs.
I am always available to speak to you regarding issues that interest you. Please feel free to contact me by calling (860) 240-8700 or sending an email to Melissa.Ziobron@housegop.ct.gov
Sincerely,
Melissa Ziobron
