Man Charged With Arson In East Hampton: Police
The man was recently arrested on a warrant, according to police.
EAST HAMPTON, CT — A former East Hampton man has been charged with arson in connection with an incident that happened at his home earlier this year, according to police.
James Jones, 27, was arrested Aug. 28 on a warrant stemming from a fire that happened at his former home on School House Lane on March 19, according to police.
Police said members of the East Hampton Police Department, East Hampton Volunteer Fire Department, East Hampton Fire Marshal’s Office and the East Hampton Volunteer Ambulance Association responded to the home on March 19 on the report of a structure fire.

East Hampton police were able to secure an arrest warrant for Jones with the assistance of Connecticut State Police Troopers assigned to the Fire and Explosives Investigation Unit, according to police.
Jones was charged with third-degree arson, first-degree reckless endangerment, and illegal burning/kindling fire in the open.

Police said Jones was already in custody on an unrelated matter and was transferred from a Department of Correction’s facility to the Middletown Superior Court by judicial marshals where the warrant was served.
Jones was remanded back into the custody of the Department of Corrections when he was unable to post he court set bond of $75,000, according to police.
