Obituary: Jane Elizabeth Schlintz Marino, 65, of Portland
Jane, known as selfless, resilient and caring, was always devoted to her family, giving strength, instilling values and providing support.
PORTLAND, CT - (From Biega Funeral Home) Jane Elizabeth Schlintz Marino, 65, of Portland, CT, wife of Lawrence William Marino, passed away on Monday July 5, 2021.
Born on October 30, 1955 in Janesville, WI to the late Ralph and Sarabel Plummer Schlintz, Jane was the second of four siblings: sister Anne Saxer of Eastman, WI, brother Alan Schlintz of Las Vegas, NV, and sister Amy Loberg of Elizabeth, IL.
She graduated from Parker High School in 1974 and the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1978. She met her loving husband in 1979 as a graduate student at Thunderbird School of Global Management in Glendale, Arizona. After obtaining her master’s degree, she spent time in Milwaukee and New York City before settling with her husband in Portland, CT.
Though proud of her years pursuing international business, her true pride and joy was the foundation she laid for her family. Alongside her father she designed the house in which she raised her four boys.
She turned her house into a home, filling it with her crafts, her plants, and the songbirds she fed. Most importantly she filled it with love. She never considered herself an artist, but everything she made brought joy and beauty into the world.
Her love of craft lived in the process of creation and the enjoyment it brought. If it contained fiber, whether knitting, sewing, or felting, she’d render it into a masterpiece.
She woke every morning with a smile on her face. Her eternal optimism touched the lives of her family and friends. She was genuinely curious and sincerely interested in the people around her. She would ask twenty questions, listen to every response without judgment, and provide the best advice when the situation warranted it.
She was smart, selfless, resilient, and caring. She was the foundation and the structure of our family, giving strength, instilling values, and providing support.
She is survived by her husband, her four sons, Daniel Marino of Jamaica Plain, MA, Andrew Marino, Christopher Marino, both of Medford, MA, Ross Marino of Charlestown, MA, her siblings, her niece Lindsay Karlin and her nephew, Tommy Ellis both of Janesville, WI.
Jane, your love is the promise that guides us all the days of our lives.
