Obituary: Joseph D. Parmelee, 24, of Portland

Joseph, devoted son, brother, uncle and friend, proudly served in the Marines and was currently working as an electrician for the Local 90.

PORTLAND, CT - (From Biega Funeral Home) Joseph D. Parmelee, 24, of Portland, was born on May 30, 1997 in Farmington and passed away unexpectedly on Sunday December 12, 2021.

He was currently working as an electrician for the Local 90. He was a former resident of Haddam and attended Haddam Killingworth High School where he played football for 3 years. Growing up, he was an active member of the Boy Scouts Troop 44 for many years.

After high school, Joseph joined the Marines and served four years as an Antitank Missile Gunner with the 3rd Battalion 6th Marines, India Company Weapons Section, which was a childhood dream.

He was a devoted son, brother, uncle and friend. He cherished time spent with friends and family, particularly his niece and nephews: Kayla, Tucker, Wyatt, Elliott and Austin.

A lighthearted man, he had a loving nature with the greatest sense of humor. He was the first one to make you laugh, especially with his eclectic sense of style. His passions included working on his beloved vehicles and Japanese made truck. He would also never miss the chance to check out a new local brewery. Joey loved making memories with his friends and family.

Joseph is survived and will be dearly missed by his mother, Gail Parmelee of Middletown; father, Donald Parmelee and his wife Cathy of Middletown; grandfather Robert Cormier of Colchester; grandmother Frances St Martin of Enfield; brothers, Donald Jr. of Middletown, Phil and his wife Darcy of Portland, Josh of Rocky Hill; sisters, Crystal Henry and her husband James of Killingworth, Lexi Klubek of Middletown; as well as many loving family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (Jan. 5th) at 7 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown. Burial, with full military honors, will be held Thursday (Jan. 6th) at 12 p.m. in the CT State Veterans’ Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown.

Friends may call at Biega Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m., prior to the service.
