Obituary: Nancy DiFranco Ohr, 78, of East Hampton

Nancy was very active in the community. She loved reading, singing, dancing, fashion, the arts and spending time with loved ones.

EAST HAMPTON, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Nancy DiFranco Ohr, 78, of East Hampton and formerly of Wallingford and Northford, died peacefully on Friday, October 22, 2021 at Portland Care & Rehabilitation Centre.

She was the loving wife of Hank “Roy” Ohr for 58 years.

Nancy was born in New Haven, September 6, 1943, daughter of the late Charles and Teresa (Conticelli) DiFranco.

She attended Lyman Hall High School where she was Class Treasurer, a member of the Student Council, senior class Prom Queen and a member of the cheerleading team; she graduated with the class of 1961. She went on to raise her family in Wallingford and Northford and later moved to East Hampton.

Nancy loved reading, singing, dancing, fashion and the arts; she also found much joy in decorating her home, especially for the holidays. She was a fan of Karen Carpenter music and Kenny Rogers.

She enjoyed spending time with beloved family and friends at their lake house in New Hampshire and later summers at the Northford house pool.

A devout Catholic, Nancy was very active and volunteered often at St. Patrick Catholic Church in East Hampton as well as My Father’s House in Moodus; she also taught C.C.D. classes at St. Monica Church in Northford and St. Barnabas Church in North Haven.

In addition to her husband Henry, Nancy is survived by her children, Kristen Ohr of East Haven, Jon Ohr of Deep River and Jeff Ohr and his wife Linda of Guilford; her grandchildren, Taylor, Katelyn, Ryan and Cooper who were the apples of her eye; her sister, Marie Prota and her husband Vincent of Cheshire; her brother, John DiFranco and his partner Gayle Gibbons of Old Saybrook; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and many cherished friends.

She was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Charles & Betty DiFranco of Westbrook who both passed away earlier this year; and her sister-in-law, Anne Marie DiFranco.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, October 28th, at 10:00 am, directly at Most Holy Trinity Church, 84 North Colony St., Wallingford.

Interment will immediately follow in All Saints Cemetery in North Haven. Gifts in her memory may be may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital (www.stjude.org). Arrangements are under the direction of The Wallingford Funeral Home.
