Portland 2023 Election Voter Guide: Candidates, Polling Places
Here's everything you need to know concerning the Portland local elections, including the candidates, polling places, and voting hours.

PORTLAND, CT — On Nov. 7, Portland residents cast their votes for several key municipal positions. Contested races include: the town council and school board.
Polls in Connecticut are open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day. You can use the Secretary of State’s website to find your polling place. Voters who are in line by 8 p.m. will be allowed to vote.
Connecticut also allows for Election Day registration at designated centers in each town. People must be registered by 8 p.m. in order to vote using Election Day registration. To receive your absentee ballot, complete and sign an application and return it to your Town Clerk, or you can request an absentee ballot online.

Selectman
The Democratic candidates include: James K. Tripp, Jillian Crawford, Andrea G. Alfano, and John H. Dillon. Republican candidates are: Michael A. Pelton, Michael "Julio" Hernandez, Shaun P. Manning, and Robert Hetrick.
Town Clerk
The lone candidate is Republican Michael V. Tierney.
Board of Education
Democratic candidates include: Laurel Steinhauser, Sarah Spear, and Meg Scata and Republican candidates are: Karen R. Renner and Angela J. Hammond.
Board of Education To Fill A Vacancy
The lone candidate is Kim Nagy Maruschock, a Democrat.
Board of Assessment Appeals
The Democratic candidates are Christopher Darby and Kenneth Kearns and the Republican candidates are William Donahue and Peter Castelli.
