Portland Car Crash Leaves One Person Dead, Another Injured

A one-car crash on Rt. 66 Sunday night has left one person dead and another in the hospital.

One person was killed and another was injured in a one-car crash on Rt. 66 in Portland Sunday night.

The Hartford Courant reports that around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, a Dodge Dart traveling west on Rt. 66 drove off the left side of the road, struck an embankment and then went on to hit a utility pole and a tree. The car held two people, and both were ejected from the vehicle, according to the newspaper.

One of the occupants was pronounced dead on the scene and the other was taken by LifeStar helicopter to St. Francis Hospital, according to The Courant. The cause of the crash remains under investigation and the names of the victims have yet to be released.
