Portland High School in Top 10 of Initial Girls Soccer Poll

The Highlanders opened the new season with a pair of shutout victories.

PORTLAND, CT — Coming off a Class M girls soccer state championship last season, the Granby Bears are out to repeat that success by posting shutout victories in their first three games this season.

Granby received four of six first-place votes from coaches as the top team in Classes M/S. Notre Dame-Fairfield, which placed second, and Northwest Catholic each received a first-place vote.

Portland High School placed ninth in the first week of balloting. East Hampton did not crack the top 10, but did receive some voter support.

Defending Class LL champion Ridgefield High School was the leading votegetter among Classes LL and L teams.

Here are the top 10 in Classes M/S and LL/L, along with all other schools receiving votes.
