Restaurant, Food Truck Closing; Owners Announce With ‘Deepest Sadness’
The owners of an East Hampton eatery cited circumstances "beyond our control" for the closing of both the storefront and food truck.
EAST HAMPTON, CT — A popular restaurant and food truck is closing next week, the owners recently announced with “deepest sadness and frustration.”
The owners announced in a post on Facebook that Kraftwich, located at 367 West High Street in the Cobalt section of East Hampton, will close on Jan. 10, unless they sell out of everything before then.
Kraftwich is described as a family owned and operated takeout restaurant that offers “fresh artisanal sandwiches, shareable appetizers, vibrant salads along with rotating specials and desserts.”

“It is with our deepest sadness and frustration that we have to announce that we will be closing our restaurant and food truck due to circumstances beyond our control,” the owners wrote in the post on Facebook. “We are so appreciative of those who made the effort to support us. When we found this location we were eager to join the East Hampton community and thought the building had tremendous promise. Unfortunately the condition of the building is deteriorating and repairs are not being made. Our last day of operation will be Friday, January 10th unless we sell out of everything before that. On January 10th, we will be closing early for our last food truck event.”
For anyone who purchased or received gift cards for the eatery, the owners asked that customers use them before Jan. 10.

“We want to thank everyone who gave us a try and hope that 2025 will be a better year for everyone. Happy New Year - Kelly and James”
In a post on the eatery’s website, Kelly Brown wrote that Kraftwich started as a dream her husband, James, had to run his own business.
They started with the food truck “right smack in the middle of the pandemic and got our name out there by serving some really awesome people at so many great breweries throughout Connecticut,” according to the post.
The business eventually expanded to the storefront, which they opened this past summer.
Fans of Kraftwich were saddened by the news of the closing, with many leaving comments under the Facebook post.
One person wrote, “So sorry to hear this news. Your food was always terrific. I hope your next opportunity arrives quickly in 2025.”
Another person wrote, “I loved your place! I am so sad for you having to close! I wish you could find another building!”
A local brewery, Rule of 3 Brewing, wrote: “We are beyond saddened by this news and wish it was not the case. Thank you so much for the support you have given us over these last few months!!! Your food was amazing, and your efforts were always above and beyond!! If you need anything let us know!!”
