Voters Reject Town, School Budgets In East Hampton
Voters rejected town and school budgets this week deeming both "too low."

EAST HAMPTON, CT — Voters in East Hampton rejected proposed town and school budgets in a referendum this week, according to NBC CT. The rejection comes after parents protested reductions to the school budget.
Parents opposed $792,000 in proposed cuts to education which would have led to teacher layoffs, NBC CT reported.
Both budgets were rejected by significant margins and will be sent back to the Board of Finance.

On the nearly $18 million town budget, 1,071 voted "too high" and 1,506 voted "too low."
On the $35.6 million school budget, 1,117 voted "too high" and 1,635 voted "too low."
