Winter Team State Championship History: Portland, East Hampton
The two schools have combined for four state team championships in winters past.
PORTLAND-EAST HAMPTON, CT — As practices for high school winter sports officially get underway Monday (girls basketball, ice hockey and wrestling) and Thursday (boys basketball, indoor track, boys swimming and girls gymnastics), hopes run high for all teams to achieve the ultimate goal: winning a league championship, and possibly a state title.
To help squads get into the championship mentality, here is a listing of the four CIAC winter team titles won by Portland and East Hampton high schools in past years (* - indicates a co-op team).
