“Big” Steve Tracey Wins Republican Nod For East Haven Mayor

Tracey nominated by Republicans Tuesday night; Democrats expected to tab Joe Carfora tonight.

EAST HAVEN, CT - “Big” Steve Tracey won the Republican convention nod for the nomination for mayor of East Haven Tuesday night.

Tracey, currently a Councilman, will likely face fellow Councilman Joe Carfora, who is expected to get the Democratic nod tonight.

On his mayoral Facebook page, Tracey said: “Our campaign took a BIG step forward tonight. The East Haven Republican Town Committee unanimously endorsed my candidacy for Mayor! I would like to thank everyone who has supported our campaign. This is just the beginning, there is a lot left to do!‘’

What isn’t known is whether any other candidates - including current nine-term incumbent Republican Mayor Joseph Maturo, Jr. will seek to primary themselves onto the November ballot.

Maturo decided not to seek the GOP nomination but has not ruled out making a primary run.
