Democrats Nominate Joe Carfora for Mayor of East Haven
Councilman Joe Carfora was the pick of the East Haven Democrats Wednesday night to be their mayoral candidate.

EAST HAVEN, CT - Democrats picked Councilman Joe Carfora Wednesday night to top their ticket and run for mayor of East Haven this November.
Carfora accepted the nomination, saying in part: “East Haven deserves a better quality of leadership and a better quality of life in our town.”
Giving thanks to his parents and legendary coach Frank Crisafi for their mentoring, Carfora promised to put an end to what he termed the “Republican shell game,” when it comes to the town’s finances.

He said he would work with education leaders, jointly, to work to improve and strengthen the school system.
On social media Thursday morning, Carfora added: “I’m very humbled but very excited to get going on working hard for the people of East Haven. I want to thank all my supporters and everyone involved. I will always want the best for East Haven and its people, thank you so much for this opportunity.”

Carfora’s nod came the day after the Republican convention gave “Big” Steve Tracey it’s backing for mayor.
What isn’t known is whether any other candidates - including current nine-term incumbent Republican Mayor Joseph Maturo, Jr. will seek to primary themselves onto the November ballot.
Maturo decided not to seek the GOP nomination but has not ruled out making a primary run.
If a primary were to be held, it would happen in September.
