East Haven Firefighters Immediately Headed to Ground Zero on 9-11
East Haven firefighters were among the thousands that headed to Ground Zero immediately after the two planes hit the twin towers on 9-11.

EAST HAVEN, CT - Tomorrow (Tuesday) is 17 years to the day that the United States was attacked by the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda.
The September 11 attacks (also referred to as 9/11) were a series of four coordinated attack against the United States on the morning of Tuesday, September 11, 2001.
The attacks killed 3,000 and injured 6,000 more.

The East Haven Fire Department were among the hundreds of fire and police departments that headed to Ground Zero in NYC that morning.
The East Haven Fire Department has posted a photo (see below) of the firefighters who went to New York that day and said this about what happened.

“On September 11, 2001 Battalion Chief Douglas Jackson, FF Robert Redente, FF Rich Tramantano, FF Steve Brunelle, FF John Coughlin, FF Bart Miranda and FF John Fitzgerald took the first train they could and headed to Ground Zero. Without regard to their personal safety and the toxins they might be exposed to they worked the pile all night and into the next afternoon.”
