East Haven Police Investigating After Little League Field Vandalized

EAST HAVEN, CT — The East Haven Department of Public Works spent months making sure that the town's many fields were in pristine condition for spring and summer sports.

On April 22, opening ceremonies were held by the East Haven Little League. Eighteen days later, on Sunday, Mother's Day, the tee ball field was vandalized, as shared on social media by the league, complete with photos.

"Saturday, May 10 around 4pm, our tee ball field was vandalized. We have faces, we have names, we have video and police were notified."

East Haven Police spokesperson Capt. Joseph M. Murgo confirmed the department is investigating.

Saying investigators are "working towards developing" a suspect, or suspects, Murgo called the vandalism "deplorable behavior that will not be tolerated."

Murgo also praised town workers for their efforts to ensure East Haven has well-maintained athletic fields.

The league is East Haven's only local Little League program for all boys and girls, ages 4 to 12.
